Finding the source of a new or unfamiliar sound from your water chamber can be challenging. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix. Take some time to troubleshoot and try to resolve the issue.
Tips to help troubleshoot a noisy water chamber:
- Refer to your user manual. Thoroughly go through all troubleshooting tips.
- Disassemble your unit. Clean thoroughly following the cleaning instructions in your manual. Re-assemble the entire system. Ensure all parts are connected securely with no loose parts.
- Humidifiers will make noise when water levels are not the best. In some cases, what you hear is a gurgling sound. You may need to alter the water level in your humidifier. Ensure your water level does not exceed the maximum fill line.
- Ask yourself, when was the last time the water chamber was replaced? If it has been more than 6 months, replace the water chamber. CPAP manufacturers recommend replacing consumable parts every 6 months for best performance.
- It may not be the water chamber making noise but the face mask. Seal leaks are extremely common. Check for leakage with your mask on. Often it starts with the noise but can lead to poor air pressure and therapy.
- Call CPAP manufacturers for technical support: Resmed, Respironics or Fisher & Paykel Contact
- Bring your system to a local CPAP vendor for help troubleshooting.
