What Size CPAP Mask Do I Buy?
Most CPAP masks have sizing guides in their product description.
- Click on the mask you are interested in.
- Look under the description tab.
- Print the size guide and measure your face for guidance. Click here for an example.
To increase your chances of a mask fitting, select CPAP masks that are labelled fitpacks. Some masks are purposely packaged as a fitpack. This means the mask is packaged with various size cushions. For example, a mask can come with small, medium and large cushions or small and medium, cushions. This variety ensures new CPAP users can find a good fit when trying a mask for the first time. Due to packaging, we cannot accommodate requests of giving multiple of the preferred or same size per mask.
Choosing a CPAP Mask
Finding the right CPAP mask can be tricky - it’s a personal choice and there’s no one-size-fits-all recommendation. Everyone’s face is different, so what fits one person comfortably might not work for someone else.
We strongly recommend doing your own research:
-
Read customer reviews
-
Visit a local CPAP store if possible
-
Try on different styles to see what feels comfortable
If visiting a store isn’t an option, consider starting with a Fitpack. Fitpacks include all cushion sizes (small, medium, large), giving you a better chance of finding a good fit. Learn more about Fitpacks here.
Please note: For hygiene reasons, opened masks cannot be returned. If you’re unsure, it’s best to test masks in person at a local CPAP store.
CPAP Mask Types
There are 3 main types of CPAP masks—nasal, nasal pillow, and full face. Each suits different sleep styles and breathing needs.
| Mask Type | Covers | Best For | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nasal Mask | Nose only | Back or side sleepers, mouth closed | Good seal, moderate profile | Not ideal for mouth breathers |
| Nasal Pillow | Nostrils only (inserted) | Active sleepers, claustrophobic users | Minimal contact, lightweight | Can irritate nostrils at high pressure |
| Full Face Mask | Nose + mouth | Mouth breathers, nasal congestion, high pressure | Works if nose is blocked, high pressure | Bulky, more prone to leaks |
